Thyroid Symptoms You're Probably Feeling Right Now

You don't need all of them. Two or three that have lasted for months are worth a closer look.

Having one or two of these doesn't mean you have a thyroid problem. They overlap with low iron, blood sugar and hormone changes, so your workup checks those too.

How it shows up in your day

Here's How Thyroid Symptoms Show Up in a Normal Week

Most people can point to the moment they noticed something was off. Find the one that sounds like you.

Why "normal" didn't help

Why You Can Still Feel Off When Your TSH Looks Normal

Normal on a lab report means inside a range built from a large group of people. That is not the same as normal for you.

Problem 01

Only TSH gets checked

TSH is a useful screen and only a starting point. On its own it can't show the rest of the picture.

Problem 02

T4 to T3 conversion gets skipped

Your thyroid makes mostly T4. Your body has to turn it into T3, the form your cells use. That step can slow down while TSH still looks fine.

Problem 03

Antibodies never get run

Thyroid antibodies show whether the cause is autoimmune, as in Hashimoto's. They can be raised for years before TSH moves.

Problem 04

Other causes get missed

Low iron, blood sugar swings, perimenopause and PCOS (now officially PMOS) cause many of the same symptoms, so we check them at the same time.

Your thyroid workup

We'll Create a Thyroid Workup Plan Based on Your Symptoms and History

  • TSH, free T4, free T3Read together to show how your thyroid hormone is being made and converted.
  • Thyroid antibodiesWhen your history calls for them, to check for an autoimmune cause like Hashimoto's.
  • Iron, vitamin D, B12, selenium, zincYour thyroid depends on them, and low levels are common and easy to miss.
  • Blood sugar, cortisol, sex hormonesAdded when your symptoms overlap, so you don't wait months to rule them out.

At your follow-up, your results go up on the screen and your doctor explains every one in plain language. Then you decide the next step together.

Questions People Ask About Thyroid Testing

Do I need a referral?

No. Book online or call the front desk.

I already have thyroid labs. Should I bring them?

Yes. Your doctor goes through what you have and only orders what is missing.

Do you see patients with Hashimoto's?

Yes. With Hashimoto's your immune system is involved, so your doctor looks at the immune side as well as your thyroid levels.

Can I do this by telemedicine?

Yes. We see patients all over the country by secure video and you draw your labs at a lab near you. Telemedicine visits use the same schedule as in-person visits.

Do you take insurance?

Not for office visits, because no insurance plan lets naturopathic doctors into its network. HSA and FSA cards work, and some plans reimburse out-of-network care with the superbill we give you.
